Jane Knowles

Jane is a classically trained musician teaching piano, flute, music theory and arranging music for all levels. A tech nerd too, Jane completed a degree in music and media technology back in 1996 just as the digital age was dawning. She continues to compose music as Fabulous Earthgirl, using pencil and manuscript, and digital recording techniques such as Cubase.

In the last few years she discovered tongue drums, and uses them as means of musical connection in a range of settings, particularly with those ‘on the fringes of society’. Jane has recently diversified into the realms of music publishing with partner Nigel Blunt and with help from Paul Waite.

Her greatest achievement, and most rewarding learning experience, is being a mum of three and 
now they are adults has time for other business. This includes editing her late father’s memoirs for publication, and working on the biographies of other local heroes. As part of her involvement in Albion’s Keeper, she is currently researching the life and work of that medieval marvel and forgotten heroine Æthelflæd, Lady of Mercia. 

Other interests include writing, photography, travel and most importantly, staying in touch with the earth.
